My Morning Skincare Routine

I believe skincare tends to both the body and the mind. Taking care of your body's largest organ not only keeps you clean and prevents damage, but it also is a daily regimen that reinforces a commitment to yourself. When you look in the mirror, you see the human that has gotten you this far in life. Each swipe and pat on your face says, "I am worth it."

I have taken a strong liking to skincare and continue to look for ways to improve and adjust my routine. For me, it's about finding what products and steps are reasonable to my lifestyle and budget and finding what feels and performs the best. Here are the steps for my current morning skincare routine!

Cleanse:
Start the day off right with a clean face -- I use the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel. It has a great liquidy formula that gently lathers on the face, and I have been using it for almost two years. There's nothing too special about it, but it really leaves my skin feeling fresh and supple.

Mist:
Next I spray on a light mist to both hydrate my skin and make applying sunscreen easier. Mists feel so nice and refreshing in the morning! I am currently using the MyChelle Dermaceuticals Fruit Enzyme Hydrating Mist. This product dispenses a lot in each spray, so I just give it 3-4 sprays after I shake the bottle well. I also have to mention that Pacifica Beauty has a lot of great face mists! I have used their Rose Water and Vitamin C mists in the past and both were lovely. I'll probably switch back to one of those after I finish the MyChelle mist.

Sun Protection:
You've heard it before, but protecting your skin from the sun is SO important! It is the best way to prevent skin cancer and slow down signs of aging. I use the MyChelle Dermaceuticals Sun Shield SPF 28 every day. It applies well with the moisture of the face mist and doesn't leave a white cast. I still am on the hunt for some more awesome sunscreens, though (recommendations, anyone?).

Eye Cream:
Finally I apply an eye cream to make sure my undereyes are properly moisturized and to ward off wrinkles. I found the KISS Anti-Aging Eye Cream on Amazon, and it's great! I love the organic ingredient list and that aloe leaf juice is the first ingredient. And for a price of $9.99, come on!

There you have it! That's my four step morning skincare routine. You can't forget about lip balm, too, of course. Also, I try to be mindful of what my skin looks and feels like each day and interchange products accordingly. For example, I may use an exfoliator instead of my cleanser if my skin is rough or dull. Or, I may apply a serum before misting if my skin is craving moisture.

I can't recommend establishing a skincare routine enough! Do it for your body, and do it for your soul.

Crumbl Cookie Review!

Welcome to the Crumbl Rumble . 16 cookies are facing off in a head to head battle to determine the ultimate cookie champion. Let's find out what flavor can really pack a punch! Here. We. Go. Pink Velvet vs. Double Chocolate Chunk Pink Velvet is a cake batter flavored cookie with vanilla cream cheese frosting and a garnish of pink cookie crumbs. Double Chocolate Chunk features both semisweet chocolate chips and milk chocolate chunks with a sprinkle of sea salt. Both of these cookies were lovely, taking me back to the sweet moment of eating them. That's what I love about food; it is more than something to eat, it's a memory, too.  Pink Velvet was the first Crumbl cookie I tried about two years ago, and I was so excited to see what all the hype was about. It sure delivered! I love the ever-so-slight crunch that leads into each soft, pillowy bite. The cream cheese frosting was delicious, and there is something about eating a pink cookie that sparks serotonin. 💗  I enjoyed Dou...

If You Were a Color, What Would You Be?

Personalities can be as diverse as colors on a color wheel. We all know people who fit the bright, bubbly expression of the color yellow or the calm, welcoming aura of the color blue. I think it's interesting how people associate different colors with various emotions and types of people.  Color psychology is an entire branch of psychology that looks at how color affects human behavior. It is used by cultures to communicate rank or meaning, by psychologists to study emotion, and by businesses to send specific advertising messages to consumers. I find it fascinating that while color plays a significant role in our experience of life, it is simply a matter of perception. There is no truth of color, it's just how our minds help us process our surroundings. A video from Read Write Now does a great job explaining the common associations most Western cultures have with different colors. I provided a recap below.  Black: power, mystery, sophistication, grief, seriousness White: Sof...

Preparing for a Princess Event!

I'm lucky enough to have a job making magic. ✨ Princess performing is a culmination of many things I love: dress up, acting, and making people happy. I've attended events and birthday parties for children for over two years as your favorite Disney princesses, and I absolutely love it! Bringing these characters to life and giving the gift of magic to families is so special. It's an art that truly lights me up. There is quite the process of preparing for each event, though, and I want to guide you along the journey. CHARACTER PREPARATIONS First of all, you must have a solid foundation of knowledge about your character. You should be ready to answer any question... and kids ask  a lot  of questions. This preparation includes re-watching your princess's movie and/or tv series and preparing dialogue that aligns with what your character would say. For example, if I were preparing to be Ariel, I would keep phrases like "have a fin-tastic day," "I hope you're...
