How I Revive My Curly Hair

I pride myself on being able to refresh and revive my hair into a presentable style from any starting point, even if that's a messy bed-head or third day curls. After lots of experimentation over the years, I've discovered how to work with my hair to let it do it's thing and also get it how I want. I've found that simplicity is key, so I nailed it down to an easy three minute haircare routine for each morning or when my locks need a pick-me-up. Here are my never-fail steps to zhoosh up my curls for results like these...

Step 1: Re-Wet

Water is your hair's best friend. Not only does it majorly reduce frizz, but it also helps your hair follicles absorb product better. I begin by putting my hands under the sink and gently gliding scoops of water on top of my hair. You're not combing, just placing the water throughout your head. I repeat this about five or six times until my hair is damp, but not soaking wet. A spray bottle can work for this step as well.

Step 2: Re-Moisturize

Curls crave moisture, so this is the time to add in some hydration. I take a nickel-sized amount of Garnier Fructis Smoothing Treat Hair Mask and apply it to my dampened hair, focusing on the ends and on any frizzy sections. And yes, I do use a mask as a leave-in conditioner because of it's richer ingredient list. This product specifically uses shea butter, avocado oil, and coconut oil, all of which work towards moisturizing and de-frizzing the hair.
Step 3: Re-Define

Now the curls are ready for definition, so it's gel's time to shine. My current go-to gel is the Olive Oil Eco Styling Gel. This product is super inexpensive and still gets the job done! I take a nickel-sized amount, rub it between my hands with a little water, and scrunch it in my hair from the bottom up. This motion invites the curls to take their natural shape and spring up a little more. I also scrunch and fluff my roots to get more volume at the top. Don't be afraid to do a couple of hair tosses as well to get your desired shape 😉.

Now all that's left to do is give the hair a few minutes to dry! By the time I do my makeup and eat a quick breakfast, I'm ready to go. Overall, the trick is to find what works for you and your hair. While this can sometimes be quite the process, I promise you, it's worth it! I've come to love my curls more and more as I've learned how to take care of them. Natural, crazy curls are beautiful!

Crumbl Cookie Review!

Welcome to the Crumbl Rumble . 16 cookies are facing off in a head to head battle to determine the ultimate cookie champion. Let's find out what flavor can really pack a punch! Here. We. Go. Pink Velvet vs. Double Chocolate Chunk Pink Velvet is a cake batter flavored cookie with vanilla cream cheese frosting and a garnish of pink cookie crumbs. Double Chocolate Chunk features both semisweet chocolate chips and milk chocolate chunks with a sprinkle of sea salt. Both of these cookies were lovely, taking me back to the sweet moment of eating them. That's what I love about food; it is more than something to eat, it's a memory, too.  Pink Velvet was the first Crumbl cookie I tried about two years ago, and I was so excited to see what all the hype was about. It sure delivered! I love the ever-so-slight crunch that leads into each soft, pillowy bite. The cream cheese frosting was delicious, and there is something about eating a pink cookie that sparks serotonin. 💗  I enjoyed Dou...

If You Were a Color, What Would You Be?

Personalities can be as diverse as colors on a color wheel. We all know people who fit the bright, bubbly expression of the color yellow or the calm, welcoming aura of the color blue. I think it's interesting how people associate different colors with various emotions and types of people.  Color psychology is an entire branch of psychology that looks at how color affects human behavior. It is used by cultures to communicate rank or meaning, by psychologists to study emotion, and by businesses to send specific advertising messages to consumers. I find it fascinating that while color plays a significant role in our experience of life, it is simply a matter of perception. There is no truth of color, it's just how our minds help us process our surroundings. A video from Read Write Now does a great job explaining the common associations most Western cultures have with different colors. I provided a recap below.  Black: power, mystery, sophistication, grief, seriousness White: Sof...

Preparing for a Princess Event!

I'm lucky enough to have a job making magic. ✨ Princess performing is a culmination of many things I love: dress up, acting, and making people happy. I've attended events and birthday parties for children for over two years as your favorite Disney princesses, and I absolutely love it! Bringing these characters to life and giving the gift of magic to families is so special. It's an art that truly lights me up. There is quite the process of preparing for each event, though, and I want to guide you along the journey. CHARACTER PREPARATIONS First of all, you must have a solid foundation of knowledge about your character. You should be ready to answer any question... and kids ask  a lot  of questions. This preparation includes re-watching your princess's movie and/or tv series and preparing dialogue that aligns with what your character would say. For example, if I were preparing to be Ariel, I would keep phrases like "have a fin-tastic day," "I hope you're...
