Battle of the Mascaras

If I had to choose just one makeup product to use for the rest of my life, it would hands-down be mascara. It adds so much to your look whether you're going full faced or natural. Today I am going to put five different mascaras to the test and see which one comes out on top. Which one will excel in volume, length, AND curl? I picked out four drugstore mascaras and one high-end competitor. Here's the list:

L'oreal Voluminous Mascara
Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara
Essence Lash Princess Mascara
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara

I've heard good things about all of these, and I'm curious to see which one will be victorious.

For this challenge I applied one generous coat of mascara to curled lashes. I only curled my lashes for a few seconds to let the mascara do most of the work. Now let's see how they compete. First in the ring. . . L'oreal Voluminous!

To me, the L'oreal Voluminous Mascara lacked just what it promised, volume. It actually gave me nice length, but not much fullness. It has a slightly curved wand but didn't add any curl to my lashes. Overall, I just didn't like it. There are definitely worse out there, but I found myself wishing I had something else on all day. It retails for $5.79 at Target, which is a very reasonable price, but I likely won't repurchase. I would score this mascara a 2.5/5 because it was lackluster, although there was hardly any flaking and it gave me some length.

Covergirl's Clump Crusher Mascara is a great mascara for beginners. It was the first kind of mascara I ever bought (ah the memories), and I still come back to it on occasion today. It's very hassle-free, and there's no need to worry about a wet formula getting on your lids or any flaking. It gives a soft, wispy look that can be quickly applied and then left alone for the rest of the day. It added a little more curl to my lashes as well. It just gives you a little somethin' somethin'! This mascara sells for $6.19 at Target and does, as it claims, eliminate any clumps. I give the Clump Crusher mascara a 3/5 stars. I really like the curved wand and consistent wispy effect it gives me, but it lacks the darkness and fullness of lashes that I like. Perfect for a day at the beach, not a night out.

The Essence Lash Princess Mascara gave me full, dark, long lashes, and I absolutely loved it! This mascara gave me a dramatic look without looking messy. It held the curl in my lashes, and wore beautifully throughout the day. I will definitely keep wearing this one! It has a straight wand that slightly tapers towards the end. It keeps its promise of delivering a "false lash effect" for sure! And believe it or not, it retails for only $4.99 at Ulta! An incredible price for an incredible product. I rate the Lash Princess Mascara a 4.5/5 because it's a stunning, bold mascara, but it is a bit stubborn to remove at the end of the day.

Retailing for just $5.99 at Walmart, Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara put up a fight. It delivered length, darkness, and drama, and is a go-to mascara for me! Overall, I liked the results. It has a curved wand, and I don't have any major complaints about it. The formula was not too wet or dry but just right, however it did give me a few clumps that I had to get rid of. I would rate the Lash Sensational Mascara a 4/5 because it's a pretty, everyday mascara I can count on.

The Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara was good, but it fell in comparison to some of its drugstore competitors. It delivered on length, but not too much in fullness. It's application was a bit too dry, but it still managed to get on my eyelid (sigh). Just because it's a high end product doesn't mean that it's always better. It has a large tapered wand and retails for $12.00 at Ulta for the travel size and $23.00 for the full size. While this isn't too bad, there are plenty of better mascaras out there that cost less. I would rate the Full Exposure Mascara a 3/5 because it added nice length and doesn't have any major downfalls, but it needed more oomph.

And the winner is... Essence Lash Princess Mascara!!

This mascara was stunning, and I absolutely loved it! I can't wait to wear it more and not worry about having lifeless lashes. You get a good amount of product for a great price, and with a few flicks of the wand, you can achieve irresistible lashes. Essence Lash Princess Mascara is the champion!

Crumbl Cookie Review!

Welcome to the Crumbl Rumble . 16 cookies are facing off in a head to head battle to determine the ultimate cookie champion. Let's find out what flavor can really pack a punch! Here. We. Go. Pink Velvet vs. Double Chocolate Chunk Pink Velvet is a cake batter flavored cookie with vanilla cream cheese frosting and a garnish of pink cookie crumbs. Double Chocolate Chunk features both semisweet chocolate chips and milk chocolate chunks with a sprinkle of sea salt. Both of these cookies were lovely, taking me back to the sweet moment of eating them. That's what I love about food; it is more than something to eat, it's a memory, too.  Pink Velvet was the first Crumbl cookie I tried about two years ago, and I was so excited to see what all the hype was about. It sure delivered! I love the ever-so-slight crunch that leads into each soft, pillowy bite. The cream cheese frosting was delicious, and there is something about eating a pink cookie that sparks serotonin. 💗  I enjoyed Dou...

Fun with Fragrance!

Everyone likes smelling good, and there are so many wonderful scents out there that can create an aroma that is uniquely your own. From floral and citrusy to woodsy and warm, fragrance is limitless.  There are a few steps in my daily routine that help me feel fresh and delight my senses: body wash, lotion, deodorant, and perfume. I have a lot of fun trying new products and scents, but I have compiled a list of my personal favorites. It's important to note, though, that everyone gravitates towards different types and amounts of scents. For example, fragrance in makeup products seems unnecessary to me, while fragrance in skincare seems like a must. And eucalyptus is one of my least favorite scents, while for others it's their favorite. Whatever floats your boat, as they say. Let's get to the pretty smells 😊 Body Wash I really enjoy the  Love Beauty and Planet Body Washes ! I've tried the Shea Butter & Sandalwood variety and am currently using the Coconut Water & ...

Preparing for a Princess Event!

I'm lucky enough to have a job making magic. ✨ Princess performing is a culmination of many things I love: dress up, acting, and making people happy. I've attended events and birthday parties for children for over two years as your favorite Disney princesses, and I absolutely love it! Bringing these characters to life and giving the gift of magic to families is so special. It's an art that truly lights me up. There is quite the process of preparing for each event, though, and I want to guide you along the journey. CHARACTER PREPARATIONS First of all, you must have a solid foundation of knowledge about your character. You should be ready to answer any question... and kids ask  a lot  of questions. This preparation includes re-watching your princess's movie and/or tv series and preparing dialogue that aligns with what your character would say. For example, if I were preparing to be Ariel, I would keep phrases like "have a fin-tastic day," "I hope you're...
